Ice Breaker Bingo and How to Play It with Your Team

How to play Ice Breaker Bingo with your team

We'll be explaining the Ice Breaker Bingo rules in this chapter. These are great for startups, small and large teams, departments, and any other size of team. While there are several versions, this is the one we like.

You will also receive downloadable cards, which you can use to share the information with new or existing members of your team.

QuizBreaker, a game we developed, is an enjoyable alternative to Ice Breaker Bingo.

QuizBreaker is enjoyed by thousands of teams all over the globe as a way to meet new people and bring them closer.

Different employees at organizations such as Google, NY Times, and Coca Cola have all reported that it is easy to host a team building event.

Why We Love it

All of us can admit that we enjoy playing bingo, even if it's for the elderly.

It's entertaining, competitive and fun. This is why it's our favorite icebreaker game.

Bingo is also a favorite of ours, which is also known as the autograph game' and 'did you guess?'. It's easy to set up, fun to play, and easy for teachers to teach.

Simply stated, the object of the game requires employees to walk around the room looking for signatures from people who know the facts on the bingo sheet. But we'll get into it more in a second.

This may seem simple but it allows employees to communicate with each other and not feel pressure. It's a great idea to have an easy icebreaker game for your first day with your new team.

How to Set up Ice Breaker Bingo

We've got your back! Step-by-step instructions are provided for your next game of bingo.

Step 1: Create bingo questions

You should be able to identify 25 interesting facts about your employees. You can transform them into different questions that you can use to create bingo entries.

Examples include "has lived in Sweden", "can speak two or three languages", "plays the guitar" and "has a Red Porsche" (alright, some people are okay with that! ).

You can make a list of 25 general questions to break the ice with employees if you don't know them well. For example, "has brown hair" and "works for HR".

You have the option to make your questions easier or more difficult depending on how long it takes.

Step 2: Make a bingo card with people

It's easy to make your own bingo cards.

You can either print your bingo cards with a regular printer or use the many online sites that offer personalized human bingo cards.

How to Play Ice Breaker Bingo

We recommend that you limit the number of participants to 30 for this team-building activity. You can divide employees into smaller groups if your group is larger.

Step 1

Each player should be given a handmade or downloaded bingo card as well as a pen.

Step 2

Explain to the group that each member has 30 minutes to meet up with others. During this time they should introduce each other to one another and search for people who share the traits listed on the bingo card.

Step 3

Once they have identified the person with the correct traits, they will need to enter their name into the appropriate box. Or have the person sign the appropriate bingo card.

Step 4

Like a regular game of bingo, the clock ticks until the first person who fills five boxes to the right or left yells "Bingo!"

Multiple chances to win are available if you want the game's length to be extended. The first person to reach a complete horizontal line of words is the winner. Next, they will be able to attain a vertical line. Finally, they will win a full house.

You can get employees involved in the game by asking them questions at the beginning.

Step 5

If you want to make the game more interesting and motivating, be prepared with a prize or prizes, if the game is longer.

A bottle of wine is enough, however gift vouchers could be offered.

How to Reflect

Ask participants to tell about themselves and what they learned from someone else to help you reflect at the end.

Your employees and students can also be asked to share how they feel about getting to know their peers.
