Gear review: ADAM Audio T8V studio monitors

Gear review: ADAM Audio T8V studio monitors

Wondering if it is possible to enjoy the same quality as ADAM Audio studio monitors without breaking the bank? The ADAM T Series is a studio monitor that's more affordable but still delivers high quality sound. In 2018, the T series was launched with just the T5V (and T7V) monitors that featured 5-inch and eight-inch woofers. ADAM has now added the T8V monitor, a bolder and larger version of the T5V and T7V monitors to complete the range.

The T8V Studio Monitor is a large monitor that can be used as a studio monitor. It has a simple but elegant design. It is a very attractive monitor, with a single front panel featuring a ribbon speaker and an 8 inch woofer. The front panel does not have an LED to indicate power. However, that isn’t a problem for me. It features a rear-firing speaker, volume knob and high-pass, low-pass, and high-shelf filters. There is also an RCA input.

It has a deep cabinet. Here's the reason: There are two drivers that power both the tweeter AND the woofer. UART stands for "accelerated ribbon technology" and is used by the ribbon tweeter. The tweeter's frequency response is pristine and clear at 25kHz. This is a much higher level than the average tweeter on studio monitors of this price.

Another interesting feature is the shape and size of the waveguide on this tweeter. It uses the same high-frequency propagation method as their S Series studio monitors (link is external). This perk is so great to have on Adam’s budget monitors.

The reason this is so useful for those at the back is because it gives the tweeter an even wider sweet spot horizontally. This gives you more space to move about and accomplish more in your work area. This means that if you have any outboard gear or if your MIDI control is on one side, you can still hear what you are doing in your workspace.

This 8-inch woofer will give you 100dBs SPL. The frequency response is as low as 33Hz so it might not be necessary to have a sub. As I mentioned, the monitor is bi-ampled. There's one amp that powers the tweeter and another one that powers the woofer. It has a crossover frequency around 2.5kHz and comes with a five-year warranty, provided you register it via the MyADAM User Area. (link is external). Although you have the option to opt out and get only a two year warranty, it's not recommended. a review of the adam 33 inch roulette wheel
